La Vedova Nera

She's always been beautiful Mary, she was tall and slender and had long brown hair that adorned the face and that, the now-deceased, husband loved so much. In the village was known by all as "The woman of the Nanni- John, for friends Nanni- with the red lips". She loved to be dyed red lips, there was the day when not wearing lipstick, even when she was at home doing crafts or invited her friends for the usual afternoon tea.
The Nanni doted on her, loved his charm and his smile that radiated every room with a sunbeam, his. It 's always been proud of her and of her beauty and in public, there was never a time when not the would highlight. She was his jewel, so called. She was not missing anything. Filled her with gifts, especially returning from long business trips: perfumes, bags, paintings and jewelry.
It was a very lucky woman Maria, was immensely loved by dear husband and well liked by everyone in the country.
When her husband was away on business, she spent her days taking care of herself and her hair soft as silk.
But one day the Nanni never returned, causing the despair of Mary when she learned of the sad incident that took away the beloved husband.
Poor Mary, from that day she lost the smile forever; she became sad and shrewish. She did not want to leave the room of paintings and mirrors, the room that the deceased husband had dedicated, except to go and cry on the tomb, but continued to look good waiting in vain for his return.

E' sempre stata bella Maria, era alta e snella e aveva lunghi capelli castani che le adornavano il viso e che, l'ormai defunto, marito amava tanto. In paese era conosciuta da tutti come "La donna del Nanni- Giovanni, per gli amici Nanni- dalle labbra rosse". Amava tingersi le labbra di rosso, non c'era giorno in cui non indossasse il rossetto, anche quando stava a casa a fare i mestieri o invitava le amiche per il consueto thè del pomeriggio.
Il Nanni stravedeva per lei, amava il suo fascino e il suo sorriso che irradiava ogni stanza con un raggio di sole, il suo. E' sempre stato orgoglioso di lei e della sua bellezza e in pubblico, non vi era mai una volta in cui non la mettesse in risalto. Era il suo gioiello, così la definiva. Non le faceva mancare nulla. La riempiva di regali, specie di ritorno dai lunghi viaggi di lavoro: profumi, borse, quadri e gioielli.
Era una donna molto fortunata Maria, era immensamente amata dal caro marito e ben voluta da tutti in paese.
Quando il marito si trovava fuori per lavoro, trascorreva le giornate a prendersi cura di sè e dei suoi capelli morbidi come la seta.
Ma un giorno il Nanni non tornò, causando la disperazione di Maria quando apprese del triste incidente che le portò via l'amato marito.
Povera Maria, da quel giorno perse il sorriso per sempre; diventò triste e bisbetica. Non volle più uscire dalla stanza dei quadri e degli specchi, stanza che il defunto marito le aveva dedicato, se non per andarlo a piangere sulla tomba, continuando però, a farsi bella aspettando, invano, il suo ritorno.
